Pumpkin Spread - Fall Foods

As fall begins to creep up on us I begin making all of my old fall recipes, and today was pumpkin cream cheese spread. This spread is a great fall food because it can be added to almost anything to make it a festive meal. I usually use this spread on toast, pancakes, in yogurt, and as dip. This spread is not only delicious but it is nutritious! The ingredients are: 1 can of organic purée pumpkin, 1 packet of fat free cream cheese, grade A maple syrup, truvia to taste, and cinnamon.

All of these ingredients are natural and healthy for your body! And it's super easy to make.

You just add all the ingredients to the bowl and you decide how much maple syrup, cinnamon, and truvia as you like. I try to keep it simple and light for my mid-day snacks so I will still have enough energy until my next meal. Well this will be my afternoon snack, a nutritious fall flavored afternoon pick me up is just what I need.

  1. This spread looks DE-LICIOUS!! I would like to try this but I am not too keen on pumpkin. Is there a substitute that you would recommend? Also, I love that this is organic but I struggle with what I am familiar with (junk foods) and healthy foods. What tips do you have for transitioning and being aware of what is nutritionally better for your body? Thanks for your insight!

    1. Thank you! This spread is quite tasty and I have not tried to make it with anything else besides pumpkin, but I know pumpkin and applesauce can both be used as oil substitutes when baking so I would certainly try it with organic apple sauce or cut and peel some apples and puree them yourself to avoid any unwanted/added sugars. I bet it would taste pretty close to apple butter but with a slight creamier texture, which totally makes me want to try it out myself! As far as your struggle with the transition from processed to organic, just remember Rome was not built in a day so just start by making little changes to your everyday meal plan. I started by following a ton of women's fitness and figure competitor blogs and that is where I would read up on their diet and workout plan then I would proceed to research anything I did not understand. This was how I started which ended up really motivating me and now I am thinking about competing in some figure competitions in the future if I can just perfect a few more things with my current meal plan. I hope some of that helps, and I would be glad to help you with any other questions you may have.

    2. Your welcome! The organic apple sauce sounds like it would be a great idea. It is definitely on my list to try out. Thank you for the encouragement, your reply helped a great deal. I was trying to accomplish it all at once but you're right, it's best I take it a step at a time. And I appreciate you taking my questions, I really would love the help. I say go for the figure competitions, you have a good sense of what you are doing and what needs to be done. Thanks again.

  2. I absolutely love pumpkin and there is no other time I crave it more than fall! I was so excited when I saw this post and now even more excited to try it myself! I really like how you included pictures as you went on to instruct your viewers on the recipe, It helped me to follow your words visually as well as see what the end product should look like. I plan to share this recipe with my mom because she also loves pumpkin flavored anything and she would enjoy taking this to her weekly football tailgates as a dip to share! It is a double plus that it is nutritious for you.
